"Beautiful light weight blanket filled with Aloha. I can hardly imagine anything better to wrap my baby in than the spirit of Aloha. I purchased this blanket before I was pregnant, manifesting I would one day have a child for it. 3 years later the blanket had its match. Heartbreakingly I lost it on vacation — but beyond grateful it's still in production so I can replace it."

Made with Aloha · Est. 2016
A Native Hawaiian mom who couldn't find what she was looking for
When Leilani had her first son in 2015, she searched for clothing that truly honored Hawaiian culture — not tacky aloha prints, but something rooted in ʻāina and native Hawaiian plants. She couldn't find it, so she bought a sewing machine and taught herself to sew during maternity leave.
In 2016, The Keiki Dept was born. What started as a passion project to pay for diapers became a full-time business — and today, every swaddle, romper, and tote bag is still produced in small batches in Hawaiʻi, still designed with the same intention: to help keiki grow up connected to the land they come from.
🌿 Rooted in ʻāina
Every print features native Hawaiian plants and animals — each one tells a story worth passing on.
🤲 Small batch
We don't mass produce. Each run is limited so every piece stays meaningful — not just another product.
🌺 Gives back
A portion of every purchase supports Native Hawaiian nonprofits that uplift keiki and their ʻohana.
☁️ Softer every wash
Gets better the more it's loved — bamboo-cotton muslin that softens with every wash, not stiffens.
Frequently Asked Questions
Perfect for newborns and babies up to 12 months. It's also one of our most-gifted items — a go-to for baby showers, new parents, and anyone who wants to give something meaningful and made with aloha.
Two things most swaddles don't have: the design and the story behind it. Every print features Hawaiian plants and animals, primarily native to Hawaiʻi.
Each piece is produced in small batches, so the designs are intentional and limited. When a print sells out, it may not come back.
Our swaddles are made from a 70% bamboo, 30% cotton muslin blend. The muslin weave is lightweight and open, which allows air to move freely — making it well-suited for Hawaiʻi's warm weather. The bamboo content makes it noticeably softer and smoother than a standard cotton muslin.
Machine wash cold, tumble dry low. The more you wash it, the softer it gets — so don't be afraid to use it daily. We recommend washing before first use.
We produce in small batches to keep each design thoughtful and special. Once a print sells out, it may not return. If you love it, we'd grab it now — we've had customers come back for a second one after losing their first.
One of our most-gifted items. It's beautiful, meaningful, and not something you'll find at a big box store. We offer gift wrapping at checkout — just leave a note and we'll take care of the rest. As one customer put it: "I'm in the lead for the BeSTEst gift given."
